One of the many reasons I haven’t posted here in a loooooong time – I am a procrastinator. I have a really bad habit of getting into a funk when I feel there’s too much to do so I opt to do nothing instead. Then I suffer the feelings of guilt and I slide even further into the creativity-killing funk.

Since I get into the funk so often I rarely write so I feel like I don’t have anything to blog about except that I have nothing to blog about. I think that would get old pretty quick. Then I wonder why people would bother following my blog when I don’t post anything.

Then I found this gem of an article: Why Procrastinators Procrastinate. I felt like it was written just for me. It really hit home.

So I’ve decided to take things one item at a time, and I’m happy to say that last night I finished a non-class required short story! It’s been sent to a few friends for critiques for the next draft. It’s a teaser into a second book. I’m still working on revising the first, but this short story has given me ideas on the changes and the direction of where the story is going.

For now… I’m on to the next item of my to-do list: finishing the Christmas stockings I started (and obviously didn’t finish in time for Christmas. Damn you Instant Gratification Monkey!)

~May your muse be ever inspiring.
